Your driver-guide Robert will pick you up from Via Via and drive to Kampala for city tour. The drive will take 40 minutes. You will be briefed and ready to start the tour.
Independence Monument
While walking, you shall visit the independence monument and the history of Uganda since independence will be explained in details.
Visit Uganda Parliament |
Not far away from the Independence grounds, you shall visit the Uganda Parliament and take pictures if you may wish. Uganda has over 500 Members of Parliament. It is important to note that you shall not enter the chambers but view from outside.
Local Market experience |
From the political city Centre, we shall resume our walk to down town Kampala where business of the local people take place. You shall visit first the market that sells only Agricultural products like fresh fruits, different spices, vegetables, raw food stuffs like cassava, sweet potatoes, yams, different kinds of bananas and more. Expect to be amazed on how busy the market is, to an extent that people are congested.
Business City Centre and Gaddafi Mosque |
From the agricultural local market, you will continue to the city business Centre that sells other products like clothes and others. It is within the business Centre that you may have an opportunity of seeing Nakivubo stadium which is the oldest in Uganda. Watch out for motorcycles that are locally known as boda boda since they are almost everywhere.
Out of the Business Centre, we shall continue with our walk to Gaddafi Mosque. On arrival expect to be amazed by the architectural designs of the mosque that consists of African, Asian and Europe designs. You will learn the history of the mosque and most importantly climb on the tower that offers the best view of Kampala city at 360 degrees.
Local Lunch experience and Visit Art and Craft Market |
From Gaddafi Mosque, we shall walk to our local restaurant for a buffet of local dishes for which each will be explained to you. In case of not interested in local dishes, the restaurant too serves intercontinental dishes. Among the local dishes expect mashed green bananas, yams, chapati, groundnut sauce and others.
After lunch, we shall visit the craft market that sells a variety of local art, crafts like local shoes, traditional clothes and others.
Later after shopping, we shall drive back to Entebbe.
